RODEO Sponsor FEATURE - C+ Rodeos

The Smithers Rodeo Club has a long friendship with this STETSON sponsor ! Longtime BC rodeo stock contractor C+ Rodeos are literately a member of the SRC family and we like it !

Owner/Operators Roy & Earl Call of 150 Mile House were surrounded with the rodeo life by  their parents Basil & Carol Call. Both (Basil & Carol) are seasoned team ropers winning many championships together. Carol had huge success in the Ladies Barrel Racing and as a trusted horse trainer in Central BC. To this day, Grandpa & Grandma still help out on the ranch when they can. Why you may ask ? Because tight knit rodeo families do that !

Smithers Rodeo Sponsor - C+ Rodeos

Established in 1985 (30th Anniversary in 2015)  with only a handful of bulls, the C+ Rodeos has grown to include 100 head of bucking horses, 60 bulls, and 60 head of timed-event cattle. Earl and Roy both do double duty as pickup men and bullfighters. Earl has won many "All Around Cowboy" awards and has been the BC Bull Riding Champion four times, he is also C+ Rodeos main Pick Up Man and Bull Fighter. Older sibling, Roy also rode bulls and was selected many times to fight bulls for the British Columbia Rodeo Association (BCRA) and Northern Rodeo Association (NRA) Finals. Roy is the manager of C+ Rodeos and oversees the day-to-day operations of the ranch.

The Call Brothers are keeping the family tradition alive with help from Roy's wife Kelly and children Brooke & Cody and Earl's wife Kat and daughters Isabella & Paige. The families travel and compete at many of the C+ Rodeo performances throughout the Western Canada rodeo season and are right along aside with the day to day tasks during the off season for this longtime BC rodeo contractor.

Some of our earliest involvement with the C+ Rodeos date back to the mid 1990's when you had such incredible four footed athlete's on the C+'s  "A string" like Action Cat, No Respect, She Devil, Blue Duck, K2, Kryptonite and Classic Cotton. These were tough rank stock that gave the cowboys at that time ...a run for their money.

Some early memories were of watching Williams Lake Andy Stuart ride eliminator bull NO RESPECT to an 85 point ride at a private venue. Andy was struck with the classic NO RESPECT move of getting jerked down and getting his bell rung with a temporary blackout. But he was good to go within the hour and was a happy cowboy with a big payout...thanks to NO RESPECT.

Another time included Classic Cotton in the late 1990's, CC was standing in the chute with the always charismatic Victoria cowboy Roddy Rimmer standing on the chute platform preparing to mount CC for their ride together in the Saddlebronc event during the Let'Er Buck Winter Series. CC felt to need to show Roddy how she felt about him with a few hard "love bites" down his arm. But you know what ? Roddy and Classic Cotton put on a bad ass 8 second show and Mr. Rimmer picked a nice cheque...thanks to Classic Cotton.

These stock are also a piece of the foundation that makes up the incredible C+ Rodeo stock that you see today !

Earl and Roy were given the honor of winning the Canadian Professional Bull Riders Association Stock Contractor of the year award, competing against some of the biggest companies in Canada.

C+ Rodeos’ stock is continually voted by the cowboys to attend the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton, as well as the finals rodeos for the British Columbia Rodeo Association, Northwest Rodeo Association, and the Chilcotin Rodeo Association, where they consistently win top stock awards; awards too numerous to list.

Years of careful observation and knowledge of their bulls and horses has contributed to a successful breeding program with the awards and industry respect to back it up !

The Smithers Rodeo Club is very pleased to have old friends - C+ Rodeos back for another year and many more to come ! Be sure to give the Call family a big "howdy" when you see them at the 2014 SRC rodeo event in conjunction with the 95th Bulkley Valley Exhibition.

Thanks again Roy & Earl Call and all of our 2014 SRC sponsors ! Without you, there would be no Smithers Rodeo !

More SRC Sponsor features coming soon !
